Madison Mutual is a local, Upstate New York insurance company that has been committed to quality for over 125 years. Its name is derived from its home and place of origin – Madison County, NY – and its offices have always been located in Chittenango, NY. The Madison-Onondaga Mutual Fire Insurance Company was formally incorporated in 1893 to insure local farmers and business owners against fire and lightning. In 1983, the company merged with the Herkimer Cooperative Insurance Association and changed its name to Madison Mutual Insurance Company.
