'Unprecedented' rise in insurance cost pushes Oktoberfest Dublin to cancel

Ireland may be known for its pub culture, but now its reputation for something else comes under the spotlight following a major announcement from Oktoberfest Dublin. And at the center of it is insurance. It’s been revealed, “with much disappointment,” that the 2019 edition of the annual event is a no-go. In a statement yesterday addressed to Oktoberfest fans, the organizers explained: “As much as we love coming to Dublin and doing our event with you guys, the 2019 event cannot go ahead due to unprecedented increases in our insurance premium. “In Germany we are not used to the claim culture that has developed in Ireland and therefore we have decided to take a break this year.” When the cancellation was announced, the organizers also took the opportunity to express gratitude to their loyal patrons and Irish partners who have offered support over the years, while asking them to look forward to the 2020 shindig.
