Insurance Claims for Damage to Aircraft or Engines

Lessors need to actively involve themselves in lessee insurance claims. The lease agreement normally has a higher standard than minimum requirements for airworthiness when it comes to repairing accidental damage and lessors need to be aware of their rights to refuse to agree with insurance settlements that may result in a lower value for the aircraft. When is a payment of a total loss unacceptable for a lessor and when should a lessor object to an insurance company settlement offer for a repair? This course will elaborate on the lessor’s rights regarding lessee insurance claims for damage to aircraft and/or engines and it will help them navigate the negotiation process with the insurer when needed. Participants will get familiarized with what they, as a lessor, should have in the lease to ensure that they do not pay out for improper claims.
