Closed start-up to end customers insurance coverage after April

It seems like only yesterday when British start-up Kinsu completed a successful second round of funding and expanded its roster with senior hires. Now the insurtech – which provided protection for phones, bicycles, and home contents – is saying goodbye. “After an awesome year of fundraising, tech development, and community building we are very sad to announce that we are closing the Kinsu app,” it said in a statement without offering an explanation for the closure. “Our insurance is no longer available to purchase and our coverage for current customers will end at midnight on April 30, 2019.” The short-lived enterprise, however, went on to thank its customers, calling them “amazing humans” who believed in Kinsu’s ideals. With its charity partner StreetLink, the certified B Corporation helped rough sleepers in the UK get off the street. Present in London and Portugal, the Kinsu team has reached out to its policyholders to explain data deletion as well as their coverage. It also recommended, “Delete us from your devices,” now that the app has been discontinued.
