Insurance agent made nearly $5 million, paid no tax

An insurance agent in Chicago has pleaded guilty to not paying federal and state income taxes as he made hundreds of thousands of dollars each year. John Ocwieja, 49, made over $4.7 million in income between 2006 and 2016 but failed to pay income taxes, the government alleged. Of the 11 years he failed to pay for income taxes, Ocwieja earned over $500,000 in three years and more than $300,000 in four other years.
