Benefitfocus, a provider of management software for the benefits industry, has expanded its proprietary platform, which now features personal lines insurance offerings on top of employee benefits. Personal lines insurance, which includes auto and renters’ coverage, is now available to brokers via Benefitfocus’s BenefitsPlace platform. The platform also has additional options for consumer-directed healthcare (CDH), as well as expanded life insurance product offerings. Three personal auto insurers rated “A” by A.M. Best Company will offer personal auto insurance on BenefitsPlace – they include Bristol West Insurance Group (a Farmers Insurance subsidiary) and MetLife Auto & Home. Metropolitan Property and Casualty Insurance Company and its subsidiaries (which operate collectively under the MetLife Auto & Home brand) are also on the platform. Toggle – another Farmers Insurance member – has been tapped to offer renters’ insurance on BenefitsPlace. The insurer offers a “modern, fully digital, customizable insurance subscription” to suit the needs and budgets of renters.
